The Discursive Engine
A discursive engine where agents challenge assumptions to converge on truth.
Causal Discipline
The World Model
Rigorous, hypothesis-driven development using Structural Causal Models (SCMs).

Core Principles
Supervision and steering across all flight levels, from vision to execution.
Deliberation as Governance (The Discursive Engine)
Most agentic systems are Linear/Decompositional: they take a goal, break it into tasks, and execute in parallel. firmd is Dialogic/Adversarial.
It operates on the bet that high-fidelity product strategy cannot be "calculated" by a single agent or a linear chain, but must emerge from structured conflict. This "Discursive Engine" forces agents with diverse professional lenses (e.g., Engineering vs. GTM) to challenge each other’s causal assumptions.
Governance is not an external check; it is the discourse itself, ensuring the system converges on truth through intellectual rigor rather than simple task completion. As with human teams, a healthy debate ensures ideas are scrutinized from multiple perspectives, trade-offs are articulated and expectations calibrated.
Causal Discipline (The World Model)
Product management is the art of making bets. While humans find it costly to maintain the rigorous discipline of hypothesis-driven development, firmd reduces the cost of this discipline through Judea Pearl’s Structural Causal Models (SCMs).
The system formulates explicit causal hypotheses, predicts outcomes before shipping, and measures real-world results. Minimizing Prediction Error (the system's loss function) serves as the primary signal for organizational health and longitudinal learning.
Alignment-by-Design (The Conway Inverse)
Named as an homage to Conway’s Law, firmd leverages AI as an "alignment glue." By maintaining a shared, consistent, and computationally verifiable World Model across all professional lenses (Engineering, Product, Design) as well as sub-domains, the system ensures the architecture reflects strategic intent rather than organizational silos.
Human-in-and-on-the-Loop (Core Principles)
firmd bridges AI theory and product reality through foundational tenets: Humans supervise and steer on all flight levels, from vision and strategy to execution.
The system operates with both Human-In-The-Loop and Human-On-The-Loop patterns, ensuring that strategic intents are validated and tactical decisions remain grounded in human values and market reality. This prevents "model collapse" and ensures the firm remained aligned with the founder's ultimate vision.
